"Technical Assistance for Fly Plate Framing"

                CFT Fly Plate Framing

California Fly Technologies specializes in Fly plate framing and framing of related art.  Dr. Mark Cave, who learned his craft under the tutelage of Master FFF framer Darwin Atkin, has framed fly plates for the National Federation of Flyfishers conclave, the Southwest Council, the Northern California Council, Kaweah Flyfishers, Fresno Flyfishers for Conservation, Kern River Flyfishers, Aquabonita Flyfishers, Visalia Duck's Unlimited and various other groups and individuals.   Mark specializes in mounting unique and non-art items, creating memorable  3-dimensional collector's pieces.

Due to the nature of fine art-type framing, prices are hard to quote without viewing the material to be framed, but the following chart summarizes the basis by which prices are determined.  All prices include:

  • Frame (hardwood, choice of light or dark oak, cherry, walnut)
  • double acid-free mattes with one opening
  • glass
  • archival quality backing
  • hanger
  • You supply the art (unless custom arrangements are made, see below)

8 x 10 = $60

11 x 14 = $90

16 x 20 = $135

18 x 24 = $150

24 x 36 = $200

36 x 30 = $250

Additional charges for: non-standard or custom frame sizes, non-glare glass (based upon size), $12 for each additional opening, $12 per matte (over 2).

Custom ordered flies or artwork are an additional charge; specific tiers or artists may not be available, but we will attempt to find them or arrange for them -- a finders fee will be charged only if a satisfactory item is found

Upgrades for frames and/or matte board are available.
